Last time, we reminded ourselves that praise focuses on the character of God and our love for Him. In 1 Chronicles 16, God’s people celebrated because the ark of God representing His very presence was finally brought back to its rightful place. In their joy, they lifted up songs of thanksgiving, declaring who God is and why He is worthy of praise.
We already looked at three reasons to praise Him. Let’s continue:
4. Praise God Because He is Strong
📖 “Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His face evermore.” – 1 Chronicles 16:11
📖 “Honor and majesty are before Him; strength and gladness are in His place. Give to the Lord, O families of the peoples, give to the Lord glory and strength.” – 1 Chronicles 16:27-28
God’s strength is unmatched. He is stronger than any problem, obstacle, or force in this world. While we are often weak and limited in what we can handle, God is limitless in power. What overwhelms us is nothing to Him. The very God who holds the universe in order is strong enough to carry every burden we face today.
5. Praise God Because He is Faithful
📖 “Remember His covenant forever, the word which He commanded, for a thousand generations…” – 1 Chronicles 16:15-22
📖 “Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” – 1 Chronicles 16:34
God is a promise-keeping God. From Abraham to Isaac to Jacob, He has proven faithful to His covenant, and He remains faithful to us today. The Bible is full of promises He has made—and He will not fail to keep them:
He promises salvation (Romans 10:9).
He promises forgiveness (1 John 1:9).
He promises His presence (Hebrews 13:5).
He promises that nothing can separate us from His love (Romans 8:38-39).
When we praise God, we declare our trust in His faithfulness. Even when circumstances shift, His Word stands unshakable.
6. Praise God Because He is Our Savior
📖 “Sing to the Lord, all the earth; proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day.” – 1 Chronicles 16:23
📖 “And say, ‘Save us, O God of our salvation; gather us together, and deliver us… to give thanks to Your holy name, to triumph in Your praise.’” – 1 Chronicles 16:35
This is the greatest news of all—God saves us. Because of sin, we could never stand in His holy presence on our own. But God, in His love, sent His perfect Son, Jesus Christ, to die in our place and rise again so we could be forgiven, redeemed, and restored to Him.
Salvation is the ultimate reason to praise. Every day, we can sing and proclaim: “God has saved me. He has delivered me. He has given me new life.”
We will conclude this teaching next time as we uncover even more reasons to lift our voices in praise. Until then, take a moment today to thank Him because He is strong, faithful, and our Savior.
