THREE THINGS TO LEAVE IN 2025

As the year draws to a close, many people rush to set new goals, resolutions, and dreams. Yet few realize that real progress in a new season often depends less on what we add—and more on what we are willing to leave behind. You can’t overflow if your cup is cluttered.

For many believers, the issue isn’t a lack of vision; it’s the weight of unreleased baggage from the past. Just as an airplane must shed excess cargo to soar, we too must release spiritual, emotional, and mental weight that keeps us grounded. Before stepping into a new year, here are three things you must not carry if you want to walk in God’s overflow and success.

One: Don’t Carry Past Pain

(Release the Residue)

“Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before.” — Philippians 3:13

Many people desire a fresh start, yet continue to replay old wounds. Pain becomes poisonous when it is nurtured instead of surrendered. The residue of rejection, disappointment, or betrayal will rot your roots if left unresolved.

You cannot receive tomorrow’s blessings while gripping yesterday’s bitterness. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal what still hurts—and then place it in God’s hands. Forgiveness does not excuse the offense; it releases you from its hold. When you release the residue, you make room for renewal.

Two: Don’t Carry Paralyzing Fear

(Rekindle Your Faith)

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.” — 2 Timothy 1:7

Fear is a silent thief that often disguises itself as caution, logic, or perfect timing. It whispers, “What if it doesn’t work?” but faith responds, “What if God shows up?”

Obedience often requires movement before clarity. The Red Sea didn’t part until Moses stretched out his staff. You’ll never fully see what God can do until you step into what He has said. Fear is conquered when faith is fed, through God’s Word, worship, and courageous obedience.

Three: Don’t Carry Persistent Negativity

(Renew Your Perspective)

“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” — Romans 12:2

The greatest battles are rarely around us; they are within us. Negative thoughts, constant complaints, and unhealthy comparisons create spiritual static that blocks divine flow. When perspective is polluted, purpose begins to feel pointless.

You cannot live an overflowing life with an overcrowded mind. Replace complaints with confessions of faith. Speak God’s promises over your problems. Refuse to rehearse what God has already released.

In Closing

Before stepping into the new year, take inventory, not of what you’re gaining, but of what you’re dropping. Your next level requires a lighter load. Let go of past pain. Silence fear. Renew your perspective.

When you travel light, God can take you far.

Wishing you a Happy, Blessed, and Overflowing 2026.
